Your Marketing Obstacle: Finding Your WOW Factor!

November 29, 2007 by Dorian · Leave a Comment
Filed under: Marketing

Don’t hide your business in subtle messages, find your WOW! factor and make it big, bold and beautiful.

Emphasis on developing your WOW! factor should take priority in your marketing efforts and it will serve you well when you have found it.

I clearly recall what I would guess to be the first WOW factor I ever saw, long before term ‘marketing’ was fashionable. As a child, I remember looking up and watching a plane write a message in the sky for the very first time. I instantly thought WOW! how do they do that! And yes, I do remember the message, it was ‘I love you Jenny’. Although sky writing has now become old hat, it had left a lasting imprint on my mind and I guess it would have been my first brush with how to get a message across.

You may be in a position to be able to afford paid advertising on radio or TV, in print or other high priced methods of promotion, even to sky writing, but for the majority of micro businesses this is a luxury beyond reach. If you are one of the latter, you will need to look for alternatives that have a direct, immediate and measurable outcome and… the WOW! factor
I am certain you have heard of the WOW! factor many times, particularly in renovation shows where a feature wall, piece of sculpture, artwork or furniture hits you the moment you walk into the room and your reaction is WOW! To add to this, the WOW! factor also extends to the designers, artists and tradesmen who worked on the renovations which allowed them to show off their skills. WOW! They must have been good or they would not have been able to pull the entire thing together in such a short time, or so we are led to believe.

Try to imagine if the same programs merely showed how to paint a wall, hang a curtain or dig a hole for a tree. Would the reaction be the same, would they still be so popular or would the show be on TV at all? If this format works so successfully for home, renovation and garden shows, shouldn’t or couldn’t it also work for your business? The WOW factor of your business Obviously, we cannot go through each and every business in this article but here are a few things to consider when you are looking for the WOW factor in your advertising and promotions.

The question you should be asking is not WHY but HOW to create that WOW! in your business. How can you show what you are offering, and the difference it could make to your customer’s life? Is it easier, quicker, bigger, better or brighter, is there more leisure time?

Take the example of promoting the use of polished flooring as an alternative floor covering. Tick the one that appeals to you most:

1. A person vacuuming a carpet area that appears larger than a football oval,

2. A mountain-like pile of dirt vacuumed up from the carpet,

3. An enlarged close-up of dust mites

4. Someone with his or her feet up reading a good book, sipping a glass of wine, with the vacuum cleaner slowly fading into the sunset, obsolete. I know which one I would prefer.

Then there is the person, hot and bothered covered in perspiration, mowing the lawn on a beautiful Sunday morning. Or does your preference lean towards the guy lying in a hammock, fanned by a gentle summer breeze, with a cold can of beer in his hand, and the lawnmower standing idle. No! he didn’t concrete the entire back yard and paint it green, he secured the services of his local lawn mowing and gardening specialist.

• The sale of sunglasses is assured, when associated with the sun, surf and fun and the great outdoors.

• Suitcases go together with travel and faraway places.

• Cookbooks promote dinner parties, with good food shared with good wine, and good friends. Is there money to be saved, if so, what pleasures can be bought with the money?

A bankbook showing a large credit balance, does nothing to stimulate saving but show me the big, bright, red car of my dreams and I will penny pinch like there is no tomorrow, particularly if it is bigger, brighter and better than that of my neighbors, friends or relatives A picture is worth a thousand words. Paint a picture. Use pictures, big pictures, bright pictures and pictures that say what your product or service is all about. Glossy magazines are full of pictures showing makeovers to millionaires and everything in between, all of that just to sell their magazines. What attracts you to the magazine… the cover right!. Would you buy a magazine that does not have one picture on its cover? I don’t think so.

Many a successful dieter has set goals to lose weight with a picture of the dream dress or jeans that they want to fit into, on their refridgerator, I guess, by now you are beginning to get the picture.
Marketing the WOW! factor is not an easy task for most businesses and research needs to be carried out to find out what excites and entices people to buy from you, above all others. This can be done with the help of surveys, friends, family and past customers, a simple question you could ask is ‘what brought you here?’

If the answer is your great advertising (regardless of method), then you know you are well on the way to finding your WOW! factor

Make a point to put aside time this week to search for your WOW! factor in your advertising and your business, be it your business card, brochures or major advertising, if you can’t say WOW!, no-one else will either.

Sitemaps 101: Benefits of and Tips on Designing a Sitemap

Have you ever wondered how a search engine works? It must be fascinating figuring out how this search tool could direct you to several websites that are relevant to your keywords. Or, have you experienced instances where the link that supposedly contains your keywords is not exactly what you have in mind? You would probably think that there must be something wrong with the search engine that it generated irrelevant results.

How does a search engine work?

Two things figure greatly in making search engines work effectively and efficiently: the electronic search spider and the sitemap.

What is a sitemap?

A sitemap is basically a page or pages that serve/s as a directory by listing all the links to all documents and files found in a website. It is not merely a random listing of links, but organized in such a way that it gives the web user an idea of how all the information that can be found in the site fits into an outline or framework. It is like viewing the table of contents of a book, or viewing the “concept map” of the site’s content.

What is a spider?

In SEO language, spider is not an animal found in your closet. This electronic search spider is actually a bot which collects data and copies content to be stored in the search engine’s database when keywords are fed into the search dialogue box. The spider reads the content of the site and sends another bot to follow the links and copy the content contained in them.

What purpose does a sitemap serve?

A sitemap like any other map gives directions to a navigator. It primarily targets search engine spiders so that they are properly directed to your site and to the links where keywords entered in the search dialogue appears. As such, it is actually a useful tool in search engine optimization. A well organized site map would guide the spider to find the information it needs when keywords are entered during a search operation.

As an additional beneficial consequence, sitemaps have proven to be useful even to web users. Since a sitemap displays all the links to information found in a website, it helps the user to search for a particular topic in mind. Many users also use the sitemap to navigate between pages in a site.

What are the benefits of having a sitemap for my website?

1. No page would be left unturned:

Going back to the purpose of sitemaps, having one would mean faster and easier tracking and crawling of spiders all over your site. As a result, search engines would surely get to the view all the pages of your site and not just the pages containing random keywords.

2. Easier navigation for site visitors:

Once a web user has accessed your sitemap, they need not go back to the search engine page to look for what they need. If what they are looking for is in your site, then they would have an easier and faster way of locating it.

3. Potential advertising value:

If it so happens that a relevant product or service company reaches your site, then it would be easier for them to see how best they can position themselves in the different pages of your site as a paid page advertisement.

4. Encourage greater traffic to your site:

If your company website has a sitemap then potential buyers would have an easier time in accessing your latest products and services. Moreover, they would not miss out on any product that might be off future interest to them since the sitemap would display all information found the site.

How are sitemaps formatted?

There are at least three major types of sitemaps: indexed, full categorical, and restricted categorical. An indexed site map appears as an alphabetical listing or directory.

A full categorical map displays all links classified into categories; while a restricted categorical sitemap displays all links listed in a chosen category at a time. The full and restricted sitemaps are very similar except that the former displays all links in all categories all at once in a page, while the latter focuses only the links under the selected category for easier and less eye-straining viewing.

The most widely used format is the full categorical. Based on the results of a 1999 SURL study on sitemap designs, the full categorical format is most preferred by users since it is easier to search for topics within the site and it allows easier comparison between and among categories.

Some tips in setting up your sitemap

1. Link the sitemap only to your homepage.
This is to ensure that the spider starts searching from your homepage down to all the pages listed in your sitemap. In this way, no page would be left unvisited by the spider.

2. Do not go beyond 30 pages for a sitemap.
Large websites having 50 or more pages should not go beyond 30 since this adds more pages to the site, and might make search engines think that the sitemap is a link farm. Also, this prevents overcrowding of links which could be tiring to view.

3. Check all the links listed in your sitemap.
It can be discouraging when you click on a link only to find out that nothing is displayed. Test your sitemap; click all links in every page to make sure that all links are indeed linked to the right page.

4. Give keyword-rich titles to sitemap links.
Keyword-rich titles give your site more advantage in being searched properly under the right category. But be sure to have this sitemap link linked back to the sitemap (e.g. back to sitemap).

5. Provide a short description for the links in the sitemap.
Doing so would give readers a better idea of what to find in the link and save them time on surfing.

6. Be consistent in designing your sitemap with the other pages of the site.
Employ a recurring design and the same HTML template for all pages to establish identity and build character to your website.

Now that you have learned basic things about sitemaps, maybe it is time for you to build one for your site.

5 SEO Tips For Newbies

SEO or search engine optimization knowledge is critical for the person starting out in e-commerce. Whether you want to blog, run an online store or do anything else successfully online, you need to figure out how to get noticed by search engines so that people can find you. Understanding SEO is critical for anyone who wants to be successful in online enterprise.

An important aspect of search engine optimization is the fact that you need to invest time and effort into your website on a regular basis in order get traffic and keep traffic continuously increasing. If you allow your website to sit and collect cobwebs it won’t do much for you.

SEO Tip #1:

There isn’t a magical formula; at least not one that’s evergreen so it’s important to stay current on SEO news. Dig deep to find information and read everything you can. You’ll find conflicting information at times but knowledge is power so absorb as much SEO news as you can.

SEO Tip # 2:

Create an easy to follow design with a standard homepage, easily viewable links and a site index. This way, people and search engines can find their way around easily and so can people.

SEO Tip # 3:

Determine what your target keywords are. There are some great tools out there that can help you both for free or for a small fee. Often it’s fairly easy to figure this out on your own.

Ask yourself:

What are the top three to five words or phrases you would use if you were use to search for the product or topic you are selling? Be sure that those words are on each page of your website, especially in titles, headings and at the beginning, middle and end of each page. It’s a good idea to use variations as well to give your site further credibility and increase the Long Tail.

SEO Tip # 4:

SEO Fact : Content is king. Always will be. Don’t assume that more is better in terms of keywords. Do not fall victim to the temptation to simply keyword stuff your site otherwise two things will happen. First, you’ll get banned by the search engines and even worse, you’ll be ignored by the humans who land on your page. Both types of visitors can see through vain SEO attempts to trick you to get onto their site.

Instead, you want to target the fine line between having enough keyword relevancy to make it impossible for the search engines to ignore you but not so much that your human visitors find your content to be poor quality. Hire a professional SEO article writer if you have to in order to come across as professional. Keep fresh content on your pages and change your content regularly. You don’t have to waste what you’ve put effort and money into, instead move your old content into archives so it continues to work for you as well.

SEO Tip # 5:

Web 2.0 is all about social networking. Social networking, social book marking, forum posting and link exchanges can be invaluable If you can get high ranking websites in your niche to exchange links with you, this can help. If you are blogging, comment on other blogs in your niche to get a link back to your site and generate interest from bloggers that frequent other sites in your niche. If you use tools like Technorati, Digg, StumbleUpon and other social book marking tools on your pages with appropriate tagging, you can bring relevant traffic fairly quickly and it’s viral so others will do the same. Social networking activities are also indexed by the search engines.

In summary, there are basic to advanced seo techniques and seo tips that you can use to get noticed by the big three search engines. Your results will depend a lot on how narrow your niche is but there are some basic things you can do to be search engine friendly from the start. It’s never too late to optimize your site though so don’t lose heart if you didn’t follow this advice on your website from the beginning. Here are some basic ideas. This is not an exhaustive list but is a great place to start.

Common Search Engine Positioning Mistakes

November 22, 2007 by Dorian · Leave a Comment
Filed under: SEO

When it comes to search engine optimization, there are certain common mistakes that people make over and over again. Here’s a list of the most common mistakes that people are making. By avoiding these mistakes, you can avoid a lot of anguish and frustration in the long run.

1) Optimizing your site for the wrong keywords

The first step in any search engine optimization campaign is to choose the keywords for which you should optimize your site. If you initially choose the wrong keywords, all the time and effort that you devote in trying to get your site a high ranking will go down the drain. If you choose keywords which no one search for, or if you choose keywords which won’t bring in targeted traffic to your site, what good will the top rankings do?

In order to learn how you can choose the correct keywords for which you should optimize your site, see my article on this topic.

2) Putting too many keywords in the Meta Keywords tag

I often see sites which have hundreds of keywords listed in the Meta Keywords tag, in the hope that by listing the keywords in the Meta Keywords tag, they will be able to get a high ranking for those keywords. Nothing could be further from the truth. Contrary to popular opinion, the Meta Keywords tag has almost completely lost its importance as far as search engine positioning is concerned. Hence, just by listing keywords in the Meta Keywords tag, you will never be able to get a high ranking. To get a high ranking for those keywords, you need to put the keywords in the actual body content of your site.

3) Repeating the same keyword too many times

Another common mistake that people make is to endlessly repeat their target keywords in the body of their pages and in their Meta Keywords tags. Because so many people have used this tactic in the past (and continue to use it), the search engines keep a sharp lookout for this, and may penalize a site which repeats keywords in this fashion. Sure, you do need to repeat the keywords a number of times. But, the way you place the keywords in your pages needs to make grammatical sense. Simply repeating the keywords endlessly no longer works. Furthermore, a particular keyword should ideally not be present more than thrice in your Meta Keywords tag.

4) Creating lots of similar doorway pages

Another myth prevalent among people is that since the algorithm of each search engine is different, they need to create different pages for different search engines. While this is great in theory, it is counter-productive in practice. If you use this tactic, you will soon end up with hundreds of pages, which can quickly become an administrative nightmare. Also, just imagine the amount of time you will need to spend constantly updating the pages in response to the changes that the search engines make to their algorithms. Furthermore, although the pages are meant for different engines, they will actually end up being pretty similar to each other. The search engines are often able to detect when a site has created such similar pages, and may penalize or even ban this site from their index. Hence, instead of creating different pages for different search engines, create one page which is optimized for one keyword for all the search engines. In order to learn how to create such pages, see my article on this topic.

5) Using Hidden Text

Hidden text is text with the same color as the background color of your page. For example, if the background color of your page is white and you have added some white text to that page, that is considered as hidden text. Many webmasters, in order to get high rankings in the search engines, try to make their pages as keyword rich as possible. However, there is a limit to the number of keywords you can repeat in a page without making it sound odd to your human visitors. Thus, in order to ensure that the human visitors to a page don’t perceive the text to be odd, but that the page is still keyword rich, many webmasters add text (containing the keywords) with the same color as the background color. This ensures that while the search engines can see the keywords, the human visitors cannot. The search engines have long since caught up with this technique, and ignore or penalize the pages which contain such text. They may also penalize the entire site if even one of the pages in that site contain such hidden text.

However, the problem with this is that the search engines may often end up penalizing sites which did not intend to use hidden text. For instance, suppose you have a page with a white background and a table in that page with a black background. Further suppose that you have added some white text in that table. This text will, in fact, be visible to your human visitors, i.e. this shouldn’t be called hidden text. However, the search engines can interpret this to be hidden text because they may often ignore the fact that the background of the table is black. Hence, in order to ensure that your site is not penalized because of this, you should go through all the pages in your site and see whether you have inadvertently made any such mistake.

6) Creating Pages Containing Only Graphics

The search engines only understand text - they don’t understand graphics. Hence, if your site contains lots of graphics but little text, it is unlikely to get a high ranking in the search engines. For improving your rankings, you need to replace the graphics by keyword rich text for the search engine spiders to feed on.

7) Not using the NOFRAMES tag in case your site uses frames

Many search engines don’t understand frames. For sites which have used frames, these search engines only consider what is present in the NOFRAMES tag. Yet, many webmasters make the mistake of adding something like this to the NOFRAMES tag: “This site uses frames, but your browser doesn’t support them”. For the search engines which don’t understand frames, this is all the text that they ever get to see in this site, which means that the chances of this site getting a good ranking in these search engines are non-existent. Hence, if your site uses frames, you need to add a lot of keyword rich text to the NOFRAMES tag. For more information on the different issues that arise when you use frames in your site, see my article on this topic.

8) Using Page Cloaking

Page cloaking is a technique used to deliver different web pages under different circumstances. People generally use page cloaking for two reasons: i) in order to hide the source code of their search engine optimized pages from their competitors and ii) in order to prevent human visitors from having to see a page which looks good to the search engines but does not necessarily look good to humans. The problem with this is that when a site uses cloaking, it prevents the search engines from being able to spider the same page that their users are going to see. And if the search engines can’t do this, they can no longer be confident of providing relevant results to their users. Thus, if a search engine discovers that a site has used cloaking, it will probably ban the site forever from their index. Hence, my advice is that you should not even think about using cloaking in your site. For more information on what page cloaking is, how it is implemented, and why you should not use cloaking, see my article on this topic.

9) Submitting too many pages per day

People often make the mistake of submitting too many pages per day to the search engines. This often results in the search engines simply ignoring many of the pages which have been submitted from that site. Ideally, you should submit no more than 1 page per day to the search engines. While many search engines accept more than 1 page per day from a particular domain, there are some which only accept 1 page per day. Hence, by limiting yourself to a maximum of one page per day, you ensure that you stay within the limits of all the search engines.

10) Devoting too much time to search engine positioning

Yes - I lied. There’s another common mistake that people make when it comes to search engine optimization - they spend too much time over it. Sure, search engine placement is the most cost effective way of driving traffic to your site and you do need to spend some time every day learning how the search engines work and in optimizing your site for the search engines. However, you must remember that search engine optimization is a means to an end for you - it’s not the end in itself. The end is to increase the sales of your products and services. Hence, apart from trying to improve your site’s position in the search engines, you also need to spend time on all the other factors which determine the success or the failure of your web site - the quality of the products and services that you are selling, the quality of your customer service, and so on. You may have excellent rankings in the search engines, but if the quality of your products and services are poor, or if your customer service leaves a lot to be desired, those high rankings aren’t going to do much good.

Why You Should Rewrite Your PLR Articles

November 22, 2007 by Dorian · Leave a Comment
Filed under: Content

You’ve acquired some PLR content. But how do you use it to best advantage while avoiding roadblocks? Search engines are trying to feed surfers relevant results. To do that, along with other things, they have to scan the on-page content. If you think that having the same content on two different sites gives you two chances to be ranked high in the results, think again. They got wise to that trick a long time ago.

Search engines have complicated algorithms that can be difficult to reverse engineer. But one thing is certain: if the exact same content is used across multiple websites, you can suffer a duplicate content penalty. Rewriting PLR content is the best way to deal with that problem. It takes a little more work, but it’s a sure bet.

It’s difficult to know exactly how much to change, but even changing only 10% of the content can easily put you in the clear. Out of a 500 word article, that’s only 50 words - less than one paragraph’s worth over all. Pretty easy.

Tailoring content has another advantage. You can give your site a unique ‘flavor’ by modifying the PLR article to something that sounds more like how you would write.

When you do that with a number of articles, you are guaranteed to differentiate your site from your competitor. That keeps vistors and customers loyal, because then you are the only one in the world with exactly that content. After all, there are lots of actors in the world, but there’s only one Harrison Ford.

You could avoid the duplicate content issue entirely by writing every article from scratch. But that’s time consuming and not everyone has the interest or ability. To run a successful site, you have lots of things to do every day. Whatever time you spend writing, you’re not doing those other things.

Starting from a blank page is much tougher. It’s a lot easier to re-write something than to write from just a topic idea. Changing a phrase here or an example there is easy and the writing that’s already on the page stimulates you to think of alternatives.

Quality counts, too. You may not have the ability or interest to write great content, content that attracts visitors and backlinks. Even if you can, it takes time to do well. If you don’t take the time, you’ll end up with content that isn’t polished. That turns people off. Not a good business strategy.

It’s much quicker and easier to modify good quality content to avoid a duplicate content penalty and make it your own than it is to fix up junk. You can polish good chrome to a shine in a few minutes. If it’s rusty, you’ll spend all day!

PLR content vendors vary a lot. Niche Content Packages, one of the best quality PLR sites and online since 2005, hires the best professional writers to give you the best content. The PLR articles offered here will give you a great starting point.

SEO Is Not Rocket Science

When you developing an internet marketing SEO strategy, there can be a ton of different approaches. Some people get so lost in strategizing, that they never take action to make it work. A bad strategy is better than no strategy. Take some caution in regards to your overall approach, once you have your ethical boundaries drawn, you can begin implementing an SEO plan and start seeing results much, much faster.

Basically you can approach SEO in two ways. The first, and the one I recommend, are following what the Search Engines are telling you to do with good website design. Ya, that’s right, follow the directions! The second is what most are trying to do, which is figuring out how to get around the rules of the Search Engines. This is a bad idea! The primary method these guys use is called “Spamdexing”. These two methods are often referred to as “white hat” and “black hat” SEO. Good and Bad, essentially.

White hat SEO, of course, uses methods not only endorsed by the search engines but has been put into the rules and/or directions. These type of SEO strategies are long lasting and are used for web sites that are developed for long term use. They follow search engine guidelines and provide great content for their visitors. Content is written with the visitor in mind, instead of trying to trick the crawlers (Search Engine Spiders) from the search engines into boosting their PR (Page Rankings).

Black hat SEO is basically a short term approach that cranks out web content in high volume so that the crawlers will respond to the keywords. They hide text in the content and are also known to send visitors to different sites other than the search engines. This is called “cloaking”. These sites end up being banned and are buried deeply in the indexes once the search engines become aware of their strategy.

The best way and a respectable way to achieve a higher ranking and to increase web traffic is the use of the “Halo effect”. Basically, an internet marketer will target keywords with less competition. After achieving a high ranking with that keyword, you can then target a more sought after keyword and so on.

Writing SEO articles are a great SEO strategy. Obviously the article must contain a proper amount of keywords to activate the search engines, however, it is important not to try to stuff too many keywords into the text. This not only impairs the flow of the article, but it can send a red flag to the search engines and have a negative effect on your ranking. It also distracts readers from bothering with it in the first place.

When writing an SEO article, you need to also provide content relevant to the keywords, in order to capture the attention of the reader and draw them further into the web site. If someone finds that the information presented is not what they are looking for, due to your title, it only takes them a moment for to leave. Captivating content shows respect for your visitor and gives them some insight into something of interest. They may just visit your site.

SEO is not rocket science, but it does take some planning and strategy. Once you decide what your goals are and target a market, you can have the search engines working for you and they will help lead people to your web site. Keep lot’s of relevant content on your site so that your visitors find your site of value and entertainment.

It may look like a lot of work, doing SEO, but you should be aiming for free traffic rather than SEO perfection. Constantly tweaking pages will keep you there for weeks, so complete it once and stop playing with it. You can learn some back-door strategies inside Google Snatch.

Link Building: Article Submissions Work!

I don’t know about you, but I’m tired, tired of being sold solutions that don’t work for building internet traffic. Tired of link-building schemes which don’t end up working, or worse yet do damage to your sites popularity. Tired of spending money promoting my site only to abandon yet another new and dangerous approach.

Let me give you an example of this misdirected guidance. Recently I’ve been looking for ways to broaden my base of advertising on my web sites, it isn’t that I’m unhappy with my current advertisers, but as many people are, I’m always looking to improve my click-through-rate and payment per click. I found a thread on just such a subject on a well respected SEO forum. Almost every poster was gushing about a new ad agency, promising better ads, higher payouts, etc. I bought right into the hype , signed up (earning the person who’s link I signed up through a $25 referral fee) and over the first 3 days made a whopping 34 cents.

Saying that I was devestated would be a bit of an exaggeration, but I was definitely disappointed. I went back to the forum to see how others were doing with this program and this time I noticed that 95% of the people promoting this new ad agency had an affiliate link to the agency’s referral program in their signature. To be fair, the ad agency is valid, the people referring me to it were exaggerating their profits, however. It seems that everyone out there will sell you your dream, but most of what they are selling doesn’t work.

So, what have I found that works for building Internet traffic. I’ll give you a hint, it’s something you’ve heard about before, but something that is tried and true and works. Article Marketing is one of the very few techniques that truly builds traffic and it does it the right way, slowly, consistently and over the long term. I know you are looking for that quick and dirty solution. I know you are thinking maybe if you throw some money at it things will happen. I know you think you’re smarter than all the other web masters and your “trick” will work. In the end, you’ll likely end up spending a bunch of time and money on something worthless, or worse yet, do something against Google’s TOS and end up indexed at page 500.

Get into the right frame of mind and write and article. Make sure your article is easy to read, make sure it is targeted. Realize that your final goal is not just to get your article submitted to the article directories, but to have web masters put your article on their web site. Quality is important, focus is important. Use relevant keywords and please, please check your spelling. A good quality article will pay dividends in two ways, first by the article directory itself and then again when publishers pick up your article and put it on one of their pages.

Let me give you an example of the second link kickback. Last year I wrote a Christmas article about sleigh rides. Okay, honesty time here, my wife wrote the article about sleigh rides. Anyway, I submitted the article to a few article sites and then didn’t think about it again. What I did notice was that about two months later I had a big increase in traffic and wondered why. I did a search in Google on my domain name and found that my article was on the front page of a page rank 5 blog. Do you have any idea what a link from a high profile blog like that is worth in traffic? Of course you do, if you didn’t you wouldn’t be here reading this article.

I don’t need to tell you that article marketing is a solid, proven technique for driving traffic to your web site and building up a wealth of quality back links to your site, you already know that. What I do need to do is tell you that it takes time, hard work and patience, but it will pay dividends. Sometimes it takes 4 or 5 months for an article you’ve written to start paying those dividends, but it will. I see you need another example.

I started an account on a popular article site more than a year ago and started submitting articles. I was recently doing a search and one of my articles on that site came up in the research results and I decided to take a peek, for old times sake. To my surprise the page that my article was on was a page rank 2 page. So page rank 2 isn’t a big deal, but the face that I got three links in my article from a page rank 2 site and didn’t pay a cent for it is a big deal. So I looked at the rest of my articles on that site, all of the older ones had a similar page rank. Then I looked at some other, older articles. Some of them had a page rank even higher! So, even if your article doesn’t get picked up, it’s value appreciates over time on the article site, the high page rank that the site enjoys is passed along to the hard working article authors pages.

Stop reading and get back to work. The article you write and post today could be worth a lot more a year from now, but if you wait, that’s one more day that web masters won’t see your article. Keep looking for other solutions, but be wary. You have one that works, one that’s tried and true and one that I truly believe in, Article Marketing!
