The Internet Is Your Gateway To The World

Forever the computer fan, I’ve been a computer user since I was a kid, when my dad came home with a Commodore 64. The world of computing was very different then, and it seems like with every day that passes, technology advances at a massive rate. Nowadays with the help of the internet, you can find almost anything you want to know about.

Sitting now at my corner computer workstation, I can turn on my PC and chat with people all over the world, play a game of chess with a friend in another country, check my bank account, and even find a girlfriend. I can get help with a difficult math equation, or I can learn about the history of China, all from my desk without getting up.

The web just opens up a whole new world of possibilities. I was looking for ways to make money online, and there’s so many things you can do. Business opportunities are all over the place with great descriptions of how they work. How would you ever know about these things without this connection?

Some supplement their income by making passive income online from e-commerce websites. Sell tangible goods or intellectual property like e-books. The beauty of it is the web is open 24 hours a day, so while you sleep you can be ringing up sales on a web-site and monitor it at your convenience. You can be earning on the weekend while your customers are searching for what they need at the convenience of their desktop.

I love the chance to see all the cool clips on the video sites. You can watch whole television shows from around the world, and great original video clips and programs created by people just like me.

A lot of people are into blogging these days. A Blog is basically an online journal where people can write on anything they like, but most are usually a theme of subjects. You can find blogs covering a load of subjects from political commentary to music and book reviews. Whatever your interest, there’s somebody writing about it!

You can share the online experience with everyone in your family. Special software packages make the web safe for kids to use to block adult material and to keep them safe in chat rooms. As time goes on, the internet will become more and more prolific. Now new televisions even have ethernet ports built right in so you can look at internet tv in your living room.

Blog your Way to More Traffic

Your business blog is a highly effective way of getting visitors to your business website.  It can work wonders as a method of getting through to your customers, and when your blog is used frequently you will find you’re getting more pages on your site indexed very quickly.

Blogging experts always do the following:

  • they post regularly
  • they plan ahead of time what subjects to blog about
  • they are a source of information
  • they want to become known as an authority in their field

What is it that makes a Blog so effective?

1. Blog should have an RSS feed and links for Social Bookmarking.  These allow others to bookmark, follow and distribute your blog posts, and help to grow your circulation list.

2. More blog posts help to increase the size of your website, helping to add more relevant content and more keywords, which are useful for the search engines. The best bloggers keep their blog up to date (daily, if not weekly), and are are a constant source of new information and content.

3. A blog is a rich source of content.  And content is the stuff that Google and the other search engines feed off.  The best bloggers exploit the SEO value of all this fresh new content and adopt the same working principles as if it were a page on a normal website.

(Be warned though - don’t, for a minute, get into the habit of blogging for the benefit of Google - that’s a misguided reason for writing your blog and it won’t help to engage your target audience.  Your business blog is first and foremost for the benefit of your clients or business associates.)

So how do you optimise the SEO value of a blog?

Blog Title

Put one of your keywords in the title.  Search engines give greater weighting to the words in the title.  Ensure human eyes can read the title well though.

Keywords:

Keyword research is a funamental of Search Engine Optimisation.  Just like normal Search Engine Optimisation, you should do your keyword research.  Then identify a small group of keywords (5 or 6) and use them throughout the blog entry.  Make sure they are relevant to the blog subject to ensure maximum relevance.

Placing your Keywords:

The search engines give more importance to the first 25 words of the blog post, so insert your chosen keyword(s) at least once here.  But make sure you don’t overuse them .  A target figure for keyword density would be 1-3%.

Links:

Use your blog post as an opportunity to link to other relevant pages or articles (with the emphasis on relevant).  This counts as much for internal linking (to your own website) as to external linking (to other peoples’ websites).  It all helps the Googlebot navigate their way around your pages and your website.

Blog Length

It should ideally be around 300-500 words.  The main thing is to strike a balance between long posts (which give you a great chance of being indexed for more keywords) and shorter ones (easier for human eyes to read).  Users of the internet have attention spans that leave something to be desired!

If you own a small business then you have every reason to start an internet business blog. Particularly if you are buying or selling products and services online. Many small business owners have heard about blogging, but they are still unclear about what its benefits are. Even if they are interested in it, they may end up viewing it as one more responsibility on their already overburdened shoulders. But a blog is one of the best ways that you can set yourself above the competition, even if they seem to have an advantage.

The small business owner today must make a personal connection with their customers to compete with the bigger, more established companies. You can’t always compete with low prices, so you have to be able to compete with excellent customer service and a personal attention to the needs of your clients. An internet business blog allows you to really speak to your potential clients. Your blog lets your clients get to know the “real you” as a business owner, creative force, and individual. Your readers will become invested in your business and will look to you for answers in your field. They will begin to regard you as a trustworthy friend as well as a reliable resource for the products and services you offer.

Your blog can also become a treasure trove of research topics, articles, and other information.Your blog will end up being a destination for people searching online for information about your industry. Today’s marketplace demands information along with excellent products or services. In fact, the marketplace has evolved in the past two decades to include information that is demanded by consumers. Regardless of whether they are buying a new car, an MP3 player or a cotton T-shirt; consumers now want to know as much as possible about the product and the company selling it.

Your internet business blog should remain simple and untechnical. If you’ve already got a company website, integrating a blog is a simple matter that will cost you very little. You may decide to update the blog yourself, but if you have no interest in writing you can also hire a freelance blogger to ghostwrite your posts. Professional witers have honed their skills and are able to write on most topics without proficiently. There is no doubt that a blog is the best ay a sall company can keep their business flourishing without going overboard on the marketing budget.
