Top Link Building Mistakes that Marketers Make
Link building for SEO is like sunshine needed to grow a flower. Ask any marketer. However it sometimes can be difficult finding links of high quality from relevant websites in your market. Backlink building will take a good amount of time and can be expensive. That’s why you’ll need to take good care about your link building campaigns. Mistakes can be costly and waste a lot of your hard work, time, and money. You can easily avoid mistakes and frustration with good information and correct actions. So let’s talk more about some common linking errors that only cause issues down the line.
A common error is choosing an image to make your backlink if you can make a text link from one of your keywords. The quest for fast results has caused more marketers to make avoidable mistakes than probably anything else. Mistakes with anchor text can be included, here. A text link with your relevant keywords/phrases is a better choice, even though an image link can possibly get you more traffic. It is not true that an image link will always produce better SEO results than text links. The traffic you can get by following this one simple tip can be really targeted as it can get you ranked for the right keyword. You’ll get more weight for your links if you have relevant keywords in your anchor text. An image link is fine but only if it’s the only choice.
Another mistake that webmasters make is that they get backlinks from websites or pages that contain lots of links. You’ll see better results from a backlink pointing at your site from a page that isn’t overloaded with large numbers of other links going to other sites within your niche too. Adding your link to a page already containing 200+ backlinks to other sites within your niche won’t make much difference to your efforts. But on the flip side of it, many directories make use of the “nofollow” tag on non-paid links. Even with a page showing 200+ links and a “nofollow” tag, getting the webmaster to not add this tag to your link will still count.
Linking has both well-known and little known rules that are important to follow. Any breaking of these rules will catch up to you, and you’ll only be looking at problems. A good way to make sure you’re not falling into any trap is to keep yourself updated with the latest info on link building. Doing so will keep you ahead of others and prevent costly mistakes. All this will help your search engine positions, and it will help make for safer backlinking.
Cool Links:
The Power Of Obtaining Backward Links
I am sure that most people who have a website are looking into ways to help them to attract more people to read their site. So what are the best options to do this? Well for me it is essential to obtain good quality one-way links pointing to your site, links that are relevant to your own site. The question is how do we obtain these links?
It is always best to try to get other websites from the same industry as your own to add a link to your site on their site (on the homepage if possible). This is not as easy as it might seem as most of these people will be reluctant to do so. I have, in the past, spent hours phoning and e-mailing the webmasters from different sites which are in a similar field to my own site. Even when only one person agreed to my request after phoning up thirty people, I was happy. I am hoping that the link will stay on this site for a very long time, the longer it does the more value it will be worth to me. This is the value of any backward link. If the page where my link has been added is a high traffic page or has a high page rank value then I am even more fortunate. As an example the link would be of far greater value to my site if it was placed on a page with a page rank five rather than a page with a page rank two.
How many backward links should I be aiming to obtain?
In my humble opinion you have to be careful not to build up the number of these backward links too quickly. It should be an ongoing project throughout the life of the website, this is the art of any decent web promotion service. If as an example you are able to obtain ten every week for five years, this would be superb. Where it can go wrong is if you obtain:
In the first week around ten
none in weeks two, three and four
three hundred in week five
none in weeks six, seven and eight
two hundred in week nine
This could well cause you a few problems as this is not exactly a regular pattern, or at least it will not be in the eyes of Google and could well raise a red flag. This could quite easily raise a red flag with the search engines.
There is no quick fix, hard work pays off and we all need to have patience. I always look to the long term and believe in time the work I put in today will be of great benefit to me tomorrow.
Other ways of obtaining links is by:
Writing articles - possibly by using an article submission service
Purchasing a text link ad
I personally prefer the article marketing option; this is something that has worked for me over a sustained period of time. It can be quite boring to write these articles in some peoples opinion and in a way I agree. There is no gain without pain as my gym instructor once said; and let’s face it writing articles each and every day can be quite painful in the brain development sense. I try to ensure that each article that I write is informative and offers the reader some hopefully good advice. I am somebody who now understands the full value of article marketing and this has enabled me to become far more dedicated than I used to be. I now write, on average, thirty articles per month. It does not really matter what type of website you have whether it is to do with composite doors, regarding cheap mobile phone calls or about training for foster carers, article marketing works.
I wish you every success with your link building campaign.
