Print text documents which are just black and white and no color ink with only the black ink laser printer cartridges.  Always select white and black printing instead of color ink printing when viable.  It possibly may depend on the style of laser printer you have but there may well be the ability to decide on grayscale printing by using just the black ink cartridge.  Grayscale is a lower resolution, but once more, you can modify it for the finishing document.  If you want to laser print black text with color ink printer cartridges, several colors are mixed and manipulated to produce black ink.  This will reduce your color ink cartridge much more rapidly than it might run down the black only ink cartridge.  When you’re not printing quality documents for a proposal or if you are printing words only, there is always a good probability you will not want or have the other colors.

5. If doable, laser print in draft mode.
Employ the “draft print” quality function whenever possible. There is numerous options provided. You may see various options under the heading “Paper/Quality” which should let you chose the “draft” option resolution printing. The document won’t print at the best resolution, but that should not matter if you are just going to reference documents that you won’t want later. What you need to do is turn on the higher quality if you need a better version of a document. 
If you want to utilize this advice, you should quickly experience significant savings in laser printer cartridges and the expense associated with them.
